Rehabilitation and expansion of the Old Municipal School into Municipal Archive

This building is part of the historical and cultural identity of the municipality of Almoradí. It dates from 1929 and in a symmetrical way, it housed the National Boys and Girls School together with two central housing for each of the teachers.

With this intervention, we recover the personality and original character of the building, rescuing the traditional texture and tonality of its materials. The adaptation of the interior patio allows it to be used as a recreational and /or complementary space for activities that take place indoors.

Originally, it was divided into 4, as an extension of the 4 interior spaces. By eliminating the interior partitions that impeded the communication of classrooms and housings, the unification of the exterior space was also the selected option.

In addition to the recovery of the facades and other original construction elements, we project the expansion of an exhibition space for the municipal archive. In this way, it also serves as a communicating element between the rooms located at the ends.

This new intervention will serve to provide the municipality with a new multipurpose space that can be extended to the entire building, including the exterior. This creates new opportunity scenarios for recreational, educational, cultural activities ..
